Abstract

The top three levels of Bloom's taxonomy are analysis, synthesis, and evaluation. This level of taxonomy involves critical or high-level thinking. A teacher's strong understanding of HOTS allows teachers to identify and integrate learning strategies that are appropriate to learning objectives and create an environment that allows students to achieve those goals. This research was conducted on 67 teachers in Indonesia at the elementary, junior high, and high school levels. This research is a qualitative research. The data collection technique in this study is to share a google form containing open-ended questions. The Google form consists of 4 parts, namely the self-identity section, the knowledge section about HOTS, the perception section about HOTS in class and the part about HOTS seminars. This study aims to provide an overview of teachers' understanding of HOTS questions. The data were analyzed using narrative descriptive data analysis techniques with the Miles and Huberman model. This technique focuses on gathering information from different participants and identifying themes, disagreements, and explaining the opinions underlying those behaviors. The study found that 34% of teachers understood what HOTS was all about. Teachers also understand that HOTS learning will affect students' abilities. The students' abilities include the ability to think critically, creatively, problem solving and the ability to reason.
